The masthead for a magazine is crucial to its image so I was very flattered to be asked to redraw the iconic Aeroplane masthead. To make sure we got the lighting absolutely right the editor machined an actual letter in metal to see how it looked. The small mastheads below are some of the experiments that were tried out before we hit on the final one
